Hello, my name is Michael Auden. I have been a teacher and educational writer in Australia since 1974. My teaching experience was gained in both state and independent schools throughout Australia. My last teaching post was at Haileybury College, a pre-eminent boys school in Melbourne.
My research over recent years has been into issues surrounding boys’ education. This has become a hot issue in Australia and my work has been popular with schools here and abroad.
My newest publication is about strategies and concepts involving the teaching of teenage boys. I have titled this publication Teaching Peter.
In Teaching Peter I offer discussion on topics such as:
understanding boys,
masculinity,
aggression,
classroom management,
literacy development,
teaching practices,
emotional development,
teaching strategies and
communication strategies.
As a fellow educator with a passion for improving the relevance of education for our students, I input into my publications a modern and realistic approach to what is possible in a modern schooling situation. As I prepare material for use by educators I reference my contributions with an understanding of educational progress by increments rather than by revolution.
Teachers and leaders often comment on the matter-of-fact style and ideas that my books offer them. These ideas are digestible and useful in a classroom context.
I invite you to try the ideas included in Teaching Peter with your staff.
A copy of Teaching Peter on CD is available from,
